Local Attractions

Lawrenny Village

The village of Lawrenny lies half a mile away. There is a small local shop, selling essentials such as milk, bread, and newspapers as well as acting as the Post Office twice a week. The shop also contains current local and National Park information. The 12th century Norman Church holds services (Church of Wales) on most Sundays throughout the year.

Lawrenny Quay

On Milford Haven beyond Lawrenny village (about 1mile from Garron) lies Lawrenny Quay, at which can be found the Lawrenny Yacht Station, the Lawrenny Arms, a good local pub, and the Quayside award winning tearoom, well-known for its ice creams and lobster lunches. Lawrenny Quay is well worth exploring and a must for all those wishing to make the most of Pembrokeshire and Milford Haven.

Activities

Garron is an ideal base for anyone wishing to explore the wide range of activities on offer to those on holiday in Pembrokeshire. Ordnance Survey Land Ranger maps, and information leaflets are in the house and locally available, for those wishing to explore. The house is particularly suitable for:

Walking

The Pembroke Coast Path runs close to the house, with wonderful walks in both directions, and beautiful cliff-top walks a bit further afield.

Boating

Small sailing boats, wind surfers, canoes and the like can be launched from below the house when the tide is in. More ambitious sailors can use the slipway and pontoon at Lawrenny Quay or any of several marinas and boatyards up and down the river.

Bird Watching

The tidal mud flats in front of the house are home to a rich variety of birds at different times of year, including egrets, curlew, kingfisher, herons, and swans. Opportunities for wildlife photography abound along the foreshore below the house, which is a site of special scientific interest (SSSI).

Beaches

Pembrokeshire offers some of the finest beaches in the UK. These include the sheltered coves on the south coast (Amroth, Broadhaven, Manorbier and Barafundle to name but a few) to the more exposed beaches on the West Coast, such as Newgale, Freshwater West or Whitesands Bay, beloved of surfers.
